Dexter Youth Football League (DYFL) offers tackle (full contact) football for students in 3rd–6th grade (fall 2026 grade).
The focus is on learning the game of football while having fun in a supportive, team-oriented environment. Instruction emphasizes fundamental skills and proper, safe techniques.
The registration fee includes a personalized game jersey and padded pants that players will keep. A practice jersey, helmet, and shoulder pads will be issued at equipment pickup. All equipment will be properly fitted. Players must provide their own mouthguard.
The season runs from mid-August through the end of October. Practices are held in the evening three days per week (typically Monday/Wednesday/Thursday), and games are played once a week on Saturdays. Home games are most often played at Al Ritt Stadium or the Twin Turf Fields, with away games in neighboring communities.
A current sports physical dated after April 17, 2026 must be completed and submitted before any player can participate in practices or games. Please submit physicals via email to dyflsafety@gmail.com.
Per State of Michigan guidelines, players must complete three days of helmet-only practice and two days in full pads before participating in contact. Attendance at the first practices is important to meet this requirement.
DYFL is a fully volunteer-run organization. We welcome those interested in coaching or helping to indicate their interest during registration—coaches will be provided with plans and playbooks.
