Little Piranha Swim Lessons

In partnership with Dexter Community Aquatic Club - for ages 3 & up.

Dive into the world of aquatic adventure with our Little Piranha Swim Lessons, designed to introduce young learners to the joys and skills of swimming in a safe and supportive environment. Our program is structured into four progressive levels, catering to children of varying abilities and comfort levels in the water: Beginner 1, Beginner 2, Intermediate, and Advanced.

Indicate your swimmer's level during registration; if you have not participated in swim lessons with us before, please select that option. ALL NEW SWIMMERS SHOULD ATTEND EVALUATIONS. Evaluation day will be held on Friday March 29th from 6-8pm at Wylie. Anyone who cannot make evaluation day will be able to register but will only be allowed to sign up for Little Piranha Beginner 1.

BEGINNER: Students in this group will learn how to be safe and comfortable in the water. They will learn how to put their face in the water as well as floating on their back. They will learn to move through the water on their stomach and their back. They will also learn how to roll from their stomach to their back and back to their stomach. Skills taught: Floating on back, Flying fish (arm flaps on back), Swimming to the bottom, Puppy paddles, Comfort in water, Safety swim back to wall (from a jump), Piranha rolls (rolling from stomach to back then back to stomach), Face in water for 5 piranha

INTERMEDIATE: Swimmers in this group will start to learn how to swim a very basic freestyle stroke. Working on becoming more confident on flipping from the stomach to their back and working their way towards a side breath. They will also be introduced to the breaststroke, butterfly and backstroke arms. Skills taught: Freestyle arms, Side Breath, Butterfly Arms, Diving from a sit, Breaststroke arms

ADVANCED: Swimmers in this group will start to learn the tools and skills of the competitive strokes. Swimmers in this group will work towards putting the strokes together and understanding how they fit. They will understand the basics of butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle. They will work towards swimming 25 of each stroke. Swimmers who complete this level will automatically qualify for DCAC’s Bronze group with an opportunity to evaluate into silver right away.

“We had been doing swim lessons through a franchise for a few years and we were looking for something different. We were excited to see DCAC was offering swim lessons and decided to give it a try. We like that they were flexible and personalized to different abilities. Another bonus was that lessons were taught by DCAC swimmers, and the coaches were also involved and provided encouragement. It was a great experience that gave our little guy the confidence he needed to join DCAC swim team.”
