Dexter Community Education's School Age Child Care program offers a safe, structured, and supportive environment for children after school and on select non-school days during the year.
Explore new programs and participate in lifelong activities.
Through a diverse range of programs, workshops, and experiences, we aim to inspire creativity, foster personal development, and cultivate a lifelong love for learning among our youth.

Classes that do not meet the minimum enrollment two weeks prior to the start date may be canceled. We encourage families to register early.

Mill Creek Middle School: Holocaust History 6th & 7th hour classes
Our Holocaust History classes at Mill Creek will be going to the Zekelman Holocaust Center in Farmington Hills on January 8, 2026. We are fortunate to have such high quality learning opportunities to explore in our community. We appreciate adult chaperones who volunteer to accompany us on this trip, either meeting us there or by riding along on the bus. When: Thursday, January 8, 2026. Leave Mill Creek by school bus at 8:15am, return by 12:50 pm (Our group will eat during the 3rd lunch session back at Mill Creek.)
Where: Zekelman Holocaust Center, 28123 Orchard Lake Rd, Farmington Hills, MI 48334
Cost: Thanks to a generous grant by the Educational Foundation of Dexter, the cost of admission to the Holocaust Center is covered. We are asking families to donate $15.00 to offset the cost of transportation. Please contact the teacher to request a scholarship if there is a financial hardship. <darntonc@dexterschools.org>
What to bring: Students should wear respectful attire and sturdy shoes for walking. They may bring their phones (non-flash photos are allowed on the tour).
*On winter field trips, all students must bring a winter coat/gloves/hat in case of unforeseen bus problems.
Itinerary for Thursday, January 8, 2026:
8:15 AM Leave Mill Creek Middle School by school bus
9:15 AM Arrive at Zekelman Holocaust Center
9:15-9:30 AM Welcome/ Restroom break
9:30-10:15 AM Next Generation Talk (a survivor's child or grandchild will tell their story)
10:30-11:45 AM Guided tour through the museum by a docent
11:55 AM Board school bus for return to Mill Creek Middle School
12:50 PM Return to Mill Creek (prepare to attend 3rd Lunch period) (Students will attend 6th and 7th hours as per their usual schedule.)
*Registering your child for the field trip is considered explicit permission for your child to attend the trip. Adults will be present at all times during the trip. Students will be expected to comport themselves with respect and courtesy during the entire experience.
