Dexter Youth Cheer Program

The Dexter Youth Cheerleading Association is excited to offer Cheerleading for students in Kindergarten through 6th grade

Grades K/1/2

This Prep Team Cheer class is designed for students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade and is all about building confidence, learning new skills, and having fun!

Practices will be held immediately after school at the DEEC until 4:30 PM on _______, beginning the week of September 14, 2025. The Saturday afternoon performance date will be determined once the Dexter Youth Football League (DYFL) schedule is finalized in late summer.
Participants will learn the fundamentals of sideline cheer, including proper motions, jumps, tumbling, and basic stunts, while developing teamwork and school spirit. The Prep Team will also learn material that is performed throughout all levels of the Dexter Cheer program, providing a strong foundation for future participation.

Required Uniform:
  • Game Bow: $5 cash due at the first practice
  • Dexter Cheer Shirt - (need link)
  • Shoes - must have plain white shoes. Suggested indoor shoes and outdoor shoes
  • Black leggings

Grades 3/4 & 5/6 Sideline Cheer

Cheerleaders will be placed on grade-level teams (3rd/4th grade or 5th/6th grade), subject to change based on enrollment. No prior experience is necessary. Our program focuses on cheerleading fundamentals—including proper form, motions, tumbling, jumps, and basic stunts—while emphasizing sportsmanship, teamwork, and self-confidence.

Schedule: 

  • Practices: twice a week starting the week of August 24th
  • Games: Saturday mornings, September through October (6-game season) game times TBA
  • Pictures: August 25th
  • Banquet: October 28th (Full program banquet; each family to bring a dish)

Required uniform - Families are responsible for purchasing game gear, indoor practice shoes and outdoor game shoes via Amazon, as well as plain black leggings and white no-show socks for cold weather.:
