  • Dexter Youth Football League - Flag Football

    Dexter Youth Football offers flag football for 1st-6th grades (fall of 2025 grade). Each child will be placed on teams with fall grade; 1st/2nd, 3rd/4th or 5th/6th. The focus is on learning how to play the game of football and having fun doing it. Registration includes a DYFL t-shirt and flags to keep. Players are encouraged to wear mouthguards. (Not provided by DYFL.) Games will be played on Sunday mornings. Practices are typically held an hour before games on Sunday mornings. The season runs from mid-September through mid-October. Parent volunteers are needed. If you're willing to help with coaching, please indicate that interest during registration. Participation from those outside of our community are welcome.   • Dexter Youth Sideline Cheer

    The Dexter Youth Cheerleading Association is excited to offer the sport of sideline cheer this Fall in partnership with the Dexter Youth Football League and the Dexter Varsity Cheer program. Cheerleaders will be placed on their corresponding grade level team: 3/4th grade or 5/6th grade (subject to change based on enrollment numbers). There are no tryouts and no experience is necessary! Practices will be held in the evenings starting the week of August 11, with in-season practices beginning the week of August 25. Practices are currently set for 5:30-7 PM, Mondays and Wednesdays. Cheerleaders are encouraged to attend all in-season practices in order to be included in stunts as well as the final performance material. Football games will be held Saturday mornings (depending on the league’s final schedules) and games run mid-September through the end of October. The football season is six games long and the cheer teams will participate in additional fun events through the Fall. The program will focus on the fundamentals of sideline cheer, including proper form, motions, tumbling, jumps, and basic stunts, and our teams will learn material that is performed at all levels of the Dexter Cheer program. We will also focus on the importance of sportsmanship, teamwork, and unity while building self-confidence and providing the skills our athletes will need to successfully move up through our cheer programs! The registration fee of $200 covers all season costs, including the cost of all required uniform items with the exception of shoes (any all-white cheer shoe) and rain jacket. Additional information will be sent out when registration closes on June 15. Space is limited, so be sure to register early!     Play baseball like you’ve never played before. Fast-paced, lots of at-bats. Three teams play each game and runs are scored like regular baseball. The league is coach-pitch and all kids play defense & hit. Teams will consist of 4-5 players. 90 minute games (but finish the inning) Players need glove, bat & helmet. For boys & girls ages 8-12 (based on 2025 Little League baseball age) Times are subject to change.

    Play softball like you’ve never played before. Fast-paced, lots of at-bats. Three teams play each game and runs are scored like regular softall. For girls ages 8-12 Times are subject to change.
  • Field Hockey

    Dexter Community Ed offers a variety of field hockey programs for girls and boys in grades 2-6. Newcomers are welcome! Core skills coached include dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting, and team concepts. Parents are responsible for providing a stick, shin guards and mouthguard for practice and games. Sticks and shin guards can be provided for new players on a short-term basis. The 2nd grade program offers one weekday practice. The 3rd-4th grade program offers one weekday practice and league game in Ann Arbor (Saturday or Sunday - TBD by A2 Rec & Ed). The 5th-6th grade program offers one weekday practice and league game in Ann Arbor (Saturday or Sunday - TBD by A2 Rec & Ed). The 7th-8th grade program is an official sport at Mill Creek Middle School in the fall and a Community Ed travel team in the spring with one practice and one game on weekends in the league managed by Ann Arbor Rec & Ed.

    The Jr. Cheer Clinic is a fundraiser for the Cheer Program. Boys and Girls in grades Y5-6 will learn basic cheerleading techniques and a short routine taught by the DHS Varsity Cheerleaders, under the supervision of the Head Cheer Coach. The Jr. Cheer clinics are offered twice a year; one during football season in the fall and one during basketball season in the winter. The fall clinic includes two practices and a performance at halftime of a DHS home football game on Friday September 26 at Al Ritt Field. The games begin at 7pm. The fee includes a t-shirt. Jr. Cheer clinic attendees wear their clinic t-shirts to the game which gives them free admission at the game. Family members pay regular admission. Fall 2025: The performance is at half-time of the football game on FRIDAY, September 26. Meet on the track at 6:30pm on Friday. Registrations after 8:00am on September 8 are not guaranteed a shirt.

    The Jr. Dance Clinic is a fundraiser for the Dexter Dance Team Program. Boys and girls, ages 5-12, will learn basic dance techniques and a short routine taught by the DHS Varsity Dance Team, under the supervision of the Head Coach. The Jr. Dance clinics are offered twice a year; one during football season in the fall and one during basketball season in the winter. The fall clinic includes two practices and a performance at halftime of a DHS home football game on Friday October 17 at Al Ritt Field. The games begin at 7pm. Jr. Dance clinic attendees wear their clinic t-shirts to the game which gives them free admission at the game. Family members pay regular admission. Important: T-shirts will be ordered at 8:00am on Thursday October 9. Any registrations after that time will not receive a shirt.
  • Kidokinetics Sportsplay

    Sportsplay classes offer the widest variety of sports and activities! Sportsplay is a fun introduction to sports designed to help kids get moving and build confidence! Each week features a warm-up, an introduction to a new sport or activity, free play, cool down, and an age-appropriate anatomy and physiology lesson. We love emphasizing that educational aspect at the end with flashcards detailing different bones and muscles we used that day. Students love telling their parents about what they learned! About This Program: Sports Play provides a fun introduction to sports designed to help kids get moving and build confidence! Each week features a warmup, an introduction to a new sport (example: kickball, basketball, scoops, badminton, ninja style courses, etc.), an athletic activity, a cool down, and an age-appropriate anatomy and physiology lesson.
  • Little Dreads Cheer Program

    The Dexter Youth Cheerleading Association is excited to offer the Little Dreads Cheer program! This prep team class is for Y5-2nd grade students and is focused on FUN! Practices will be held right after school at the DEEC until 4:30 PM on Thursdays starting September 11, 2025. The Saturday afternoon performance date will be based on the DYFL calendar, which is finalized in late summer. This beginner program will focus on the basic fundamentals of sideline cheer, including proper form, motions, tumbling, and jumps, and our prep team will learn material that is performed at all levels of the Dexter Cheer program.   • Michigan Thunder Soccer Academy

    Professional coaching coordinated by Michigan Thunder FC Director of Academy, Sean Myint Little Bolts ages 3-5. Our Little Bolts program aims to develop soccer specific skills such as basic motor skills, balance, coordination, foot-eye coordination, and ball skills. Little Bolts build strong fundamental foundations for physical skills, teamwork and inspires confidence at a young age in a successful atmosphere where learning is fun. It also gives the players the opportunity to play soccer, learn new skills and have an enjoyable sporting experience all while making new friends. A professional coaching staff will deliver this high-energy experience. Our goal is to provide a perfect introduction to the game of soccer while focusing on independence and enhancing your child’s overall growth and well being. You will see happy, confident children who are eager to learn and come back for more. In the fall, winter and spring, Little Bolts meet on Saturdays, 9-9:45am. Five year olds have the option of registering for Little Bolts or Strikers. If you're unsure as to which program is best for your participant, we suggest you register for Little Bolts and talk with the coaches at the conclusion of the first practice. Strikers ages 5 -10. Our Thunder Strikers program is designed to support and guide emerging young soccer players and parents into a formalized, structured and developmental soccer environment. The goal is to provide technical training for ALL players who have a strong desire to develop their technical skill level, increase their knowledge and foster a love for the game of soccer. The training will focus on developing technical skills including first touch, dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting and attacking moves. The Thunder Strikers program places a strong emphasis on teamwork, sportsmanship and the skills that are vital components of competitive soccer and transferable skills to life. In the fall, winter and spring, the Thunder Strikers program usually includes one weekday evening practice and a Saturday program, between 10am and noon. What to Bring: Wear shin guards, sneakers or soccer shoes (during outdoor season), bring a water bottle and a size 3 or 4 soccer ball to all sessions. Soccer Shirts: You have the option of purchasing a Michigan Thunder FC t-shirt. MI Thunder partners with DCE to coordinate our youth soccer program. Youth soccer participants are often invited to support the DHS soccer programs on Senior Night or on other special occasions. Wearing the MI Thunder soccer shirt gets the student into the game at no charge. Fall 2025: Little Bolts will continue to meet on Saturdays only. Striker training sessions will be on Tuesdays or Thursdays with in-house games on Saturdays between 10am and noon.   • Middle School Tennis Club

    Beginners and almost-intermediate level players will learn the rules of the game and develop the basic strokes using drills and games in a fun-filled atmosphere. Each class will include warm up, skill development, and games. Bring your racquet and a water bottle.
  • Mill Creek Middle School Sideline Cheer

    The Middle School Sideline Cheer team cheers at the Middle School football games on Tuesdays in the fall. MS Head Coach: Kaylee Philage. For more info, email dextercompcheer@gmail.com Fall 2025: August practices, 5:00-7:30pm, Monday-Friday beginning Aug 5 in the Wylie Cafeteria. Effective September 2, practices will be 3:30-6:00pm, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday in the Wylie Cafeteria.
  • Running Club

    The Running Club helps students build fitness and endurance through distance running in a positive, encouraging environment. Under the direction of Program Coordinator Andrea Kelly, coaches incorporate group games, stretching, and running activities to make the program both fun and challenging. The group works up to a mile, with some runners choosing to go farther, and the mile serving as a strong goal for most participants. All ability levels are welcome, and students are encouraged to push themselves while learning life lessons like perseverance, focus, and teamwork. Run Club also includes a few friendly meets with nearby schools, giving kids the chance to experience team spirit and the excitement of running with peers from other communities. Participants typically run rain or shine. For Fall 2025, the club will meet on Mondays and/or Thursdays at 3:15 p.m., beginning with check-in and stretching at the Field of Champions behind Wylie before moving to Bates Field. Fifth and sixth graders are encouraged to ride the bus to the bus hub. A Running Club t-shirt is included with registration. Because this is an after-school program, we typically need one volunteer to help with attendance each day. Interested parents can indicate their willingness during registration, and Andrea will confirm with the first 1–2 who sign up.
